Bhubaneswar: A notorious criminal, A Shiva, was injured in an exchange of fire with a special squad of Commissionerate Police at Khandagiri here on Wednesday. The encounter took place near Jaydev Vatika.
Shiva sustained bullet injuries in his left leg and was admitted to a nearby hospital.An accomplice of Shiva, however, managed to escape from the spot.

Encounter specialist Anup Kanungo was also injured in the incident.
More than 20 criminal cases are pending against Shiva at different police stations in Ganjam district, police sources said.
