Baripada: In a massive raid on Wednesday forest personnel arrested 4 notorious poachers involved in hunting tigers in and around Similipal National Park in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
These poachers allegedly killed 4 tigers in the past and were absconding for several years.
The sleuths seized firearms, explosives (gun powder), bows and 80 arrows, a snare, 4 Royal Bengal Tiger teeth, whiskers, and pellets from possession of the accused.
The raids were carried out by a joint team of Similipal South Division and Baripada Forest Division, and the accused were nabbed from Khandachira village under Udala police limits, the Forest department informed.
Among the arrestees was Mahato Kisku alias Hapna who was on the Crime Branch’s wanted list for poaching a royal Bengal tiger two and a half years back. He will be handed over to the STF of Odisha Crime Branch for further action, the forest personnel added.
