Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Higher Education Department has rolled out a new system in the undergraduate admission process to government-run and aided degree colleges. It now allows students to apply for UG courses even before the Plus Two results are declared.
Reports claim that the move is aimed at streamlining and speeding up the admission cycle. Students can submit their applications by selecting the ‘appeared’ option in the form. This option will indicate they are awaiting results. Earlier, students could apply only after the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) published the Plus Two results.
The department will announce the specific dates for updating marks after results are published for seamless transition, reported the Times of India. It will also provide a 10-day window after the declaration of CHSE results for students to update their marks. This initiative is likely to reduce delays and facilitate timely seat allotment.
Meanwhile, the Common Application Form (CAF) is now live and available for the students to apply for UG courses on the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal. They can apply online until May 20. There is also an option to edit their applications on May 21 and 22.
For students who appeared for CHSE exams, their marks will be automatically fetched from the council’s database. There will be no need for manual data entry.
