The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the JEE-Main exam, has released a mock question paper to help students prepare for the long-form or numerical type questions.
These type of questions will be introduced in the JEE-Main January 2020 exam. However, unlike objective type questions, numerical questions will not attract any negative marking.
Candidates can click here to attempt the mock test or visit https://jeemain.nta.nic.in to get the sample questions.
The examination will be held from January 6-11, 2020. It will be computer-based, except for the drawing test for B.Arch. course, which will be pen-paper based.
The move to introduce long format questions came after the exam conducting authority faced criticism over testing students only through objective type questions. There was a view in the academic circles that objective type questions fail to correctly assess the merit of a student.
JEE-Main is conducted twice in a year – January and April for admission to engineering institutes such as NITs, among others. It also acts as a screening test for candidates who wish to appear for JEE-Advanced for admission to the IITs.
