Bhubaneswar: In order to further improve the health services, the Odisha government has increased the number of diagnostic tests in its facilities except the medical colleges.

According to an official order of the Health department, the government has been extending high-end tests through PPP mode to save the patients from expensive tests like X-Ray, MRI and CT Scan in the health centres.

As per the revised norms, the number of tests has been increased to 16 in sub-centres, 65 in primary health centre (PHC), 103 in community health centre (CHC), 121 in sub-divisional hospital (SDH) and 145 in district headquarters hospital (DHH). The tests can be adjusted depending on the number of patients visiting the health centres.

In urban areas, 52 pathological tests including 38 in CHC and 14 in PHC have been outsourced.

Besides, the outsourced agencies have been allowed to collect the samples for tests from block PHC, UCHC, SDH and DHH. However, the department has given importance to mistake-free and easily available tests on the part of the agencies.

In the medical colleges, 121 diagnostic t4sts being carried out now will remain unchanged, the notification said.
