Bhubaneswar: In a stern action against administrative laxity, the Odisha government has suspended Manoj Kumar Majhi, a junior Odisha Administrative Service (OAS-A) officer serving as the Tehsildar of Odapada in Dhenkanal district.
The disciplinary measure was formally initiated by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department through an official order (Letter No. 42713) issued on October 16, placing Majhi under immediate suspension pending comprehensive disciplinary proceedings under Rule 12(1)(a) of the Odisha Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1962, amid serious allegations of dereliction of duty, negligence, and non-compliance with government regulations.
The disciplinary action follows a series of public grievances and official complaints lodged against the officer. Sources indicate the charges involve administrative inaction, failure to issue key caste certificates to students within prescribed time limits, and explicit non-compliance with established regulations.
Furthermore, local authorities noted a sharp surge in the illicit extraction and transportation of stones from unauthorised stone quarries operating within his jurisdiction.
Reiterating its commitment to maintaining transparency, citizen-centric revenue management, and strict intolerance toward administrative irregularities, the state department has instructed the Dhenkanal District Collector to compile and submit a full report covering all charges against Majhi.
During the suspension period, Majhi has been directed to report to the office of the Central Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) in Kataka. He has also been instructed not to leave his headquarters without obtaining prior formal permission from the Commissioner, as further details regarding the ongoing probe are being processed.
