ODI World Cup: Indian Spinners & Bumrah Dismiss Australia For 199

Chennai:

Team India bowled out Australia for 199 in their ICC ODI World Cup opener at MA Chidambaram Stadium here on Sunday.

Opting to bat first after Pat Cummins won the toss, Australia were rocked in the third over when Jasprit Bumrah had in-form opener Mitchell Marsh brilliantly caught at slip by Virat Kohli.

David Warner (41) and Steve Smith (46) steadied the innings with a 69-run partnership before the Indian spinners turned on the magic on a slowish pitch offering turn.

Ravindra Jadeja was the best among the trio with figures of 3/28 in 10 overs, Kuldeep Yadav bagged 2/42 and Ravichandran Ashwin 1/34.

Bumrah troubled the Aussies batsmen too, registering figures of 2/35 in 10 overs, while Mohammed Siraj took 1.

India left out experienced pacer Mohammed Shami, while Shubman Gill was ruled out as he’s yet to recover from dengue.
