Odia film ‘Khyanika-The Lost Idea’ to be screened at film fest in Canada

Bhubaneswar: Odia filmmaker Amartya Bhattacharya’s Odia film ‘Kyanika-The Lost Idea’ will be screened at Hidden Gems Film Festival in Canada. The festival is scheduled to begin in the last week of April.

Hidden Gems Film Festival is a unique art-house festival which screens eight unique films from India each year.

The filmmaker has personified Idea as a beautiful young lady, free of all bondage, in the movie. It revolves around the tussle between a poet and painter, justifying their claim over the idea through their art forms.

Amrita Chowdhury, Susant Misra and Swastik Choudhury play the parts of idea, poet and painter respectively, while Ollywood star Anu Choudhury has a cameo in the film.

“The film talks about idea as free and universal. One can depict the same idea in different ways,” he said. The film has been shot in and around Puri and Bhubaneswar with a DSLR camera.

Bhattacharya’s first movie Capital-I, a psychodrama, had received accolades in various film festivals. “While Capital-I was a serious film, Khyanika is satirical in tone,” said the filmmaker.
