Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has increased the annual scholarships for both pre-matric and post-matric students under the state’s flagship education initiatives — Mukhyamantri Medhabruti Yojana and Anwesha Yojana.

Under the revised structure, the pre-matric scholarship for students under the Mukhyamantri Medhabruti Yojana has been increased from Rs 10,500 to Rs 16,000. Similarly, financial aid provided through the Anwesha Yojana, which supports students from economically weaker backgrounds, has been raised from Rs 11,000 to Rs 17,000.

At post-matric levels, male students, who were earlier receiving Rs 11,000, will now get Rs 16,000 annually, and females Rs 17,000.

The decision, aimed at expanding educational access and easing financial burdens, was unveiled by the CM during a district-level event in Nuapada on Monday. “Education is the root of development, and our government is committed to ensuring equal learning opportunities for every child, irrespective of their background,” he said, adding that the enhanced financial assistance will help thousands of meritorious students in Odisha pursue quality education without financial barriers.
