Bhubaneswar: A clutch of Odisha artists participated in an international online painting competition last month that later found a place in Guinness World Records.
The contest, organized by Indore-based Radart Foundation, saw 1,149 artists taking part from all over world, of whom 900 were Indians from across 26 states.
Those from Odisha were noted pattachitra artist Rabindra Kumar Moharana, Ashok Pattanaik and Mahek Agrawal from Bhubaneswar; Kritikrishna Panda and Snehashish Panda from Bhadrak; Nilamani Jena and Mahali Das from Puri; Arnab Asutosh Pradhan from Sambalpur; Mahendra Nath Dandapat from Baripada; Manoj Kumar Patra from Karanjia; Jyoshna Rani Nanda from Rourkela; and Dr Sucheta Praiyabadini from Ganjam.
The contest, which took place on May 2, got into the Guinness World Records a fortnight later as the artists uploaded all pictures on Facebook in one hour.
Ashok Pattanaik, one of the participants, informed that 797 paintings were selected for the final round.
“Due to technical issues, after several attempts we uploaded the paintings in one hour,” he said.
Paintings which were uploaded on the social media platform included acrylic on canvas, water colour and oil painting.
“I had submitted a painting titled ‘The Music On Colour’. It was acrylic on canvas,” said Pattanaik, a State Lalit Kala Academy awardee.
