Odisha Asks West Bengal To Remove Signboard From Udaypur Beach

Bhubaneswar: The West Bengal Irrigation and Water Resources department has put up a signboard on the road, leading to Udaypur beach near the state border. The Odisha government has asked their counterpart to remove the same within 15 days.

“If no action is taken by the Bengal government within the stipulated period, the local administration will remove the sign board,” said Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty.

The issue was pointed out by local MLA and Higher Education and Industries minister Ananta Das. The signage in question has been put up on a road built by the Odisha government and the Bengal government states it is part of Digha beach.

At the meeting held in the State Secretariat, it was decided that a check gate along with other infrastructure development will be built at the border to attract tourists. The Forest and Environment and Tourism departments will take up development of Udaypur beach. The Revenue department will also construct an inspection bungalow there too.
