Odisha Assembly Concerned Over Rate Of School Dropouts
Bhubaneswar: Members cutting across party lines expressed concern over the rate of school dropouts following a statement by the School and Mass Education Minister, Samir Ranjan Dash, in the Assembly on Wednesday.
The minister said that at the primary school level, Rayagada district has the maximum (11.67%) dropout rate followed by Kendrapara (8.93%) and Kalahandi (8.45%). At the upper primary level, Rayagada tops the list with 17.10% dropout rate followed by Malkangiri (13.78%) and Jajpur (12.63%).
Besides, at the secondary school level, Puri district has the highest (10.5%) dropout rate followed by Balasore (8.73%) and Sambalpur (8.16%), the minister said in a written reply.
