Jajpur: Bhaba Das, cousin of Senior BJD leader Pranab Prakash Das, was released from jail after being granted bail by the District and Sessions Judge in Odisha’s Jajpur.
While Bhaba Das alias Lala had got bail in four cases earlier, hie plea was pending in another case. The District and Sessions Judge granted him bail in this case after hearing the matter.
It may be noted that Bhaba and his supporters had allegedly assaulted Dharmasala MLA Himanshu Sahoo on November 20 and the incident triggered tension in the area, prompting the authorities to impose prohibitory orders in Jajpur town.
The incident had triggered protest at the Jajpur police station with demonstrators expressing discontent over the handling of the case.
Bhaba Das subsequently faced allegation of verbally abusing vegetable vendors and customers and was accused of orchestrating a roadblock at Biraja Market. Based on several complaints, the local police registered five cases against him.
The district judge granted bail in the fifth remaining case against him, allowing him to be released pending further proceedings.
