Odisha BJP President Leaves For Delhi For Election Meet, Rules Out Alliance Talks Again

Bhubaneswar: Odisha president of BJP Manmohan Samal on Sunday reiterated that there were no talks on alliance with BJD in the dual elections in the state.

Speaking to mediapersons at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar before boarding a flight to New Delhi, Samal said a team of state leaders of the party were going to hold a meeting with central leadership on the ensuing elections.

This is his third visit to Delhi in the last 10 days,

Besides Samal, Odisha BJP in-charge Vijay Pal Singh Tomar, co-in-charge Lata Usendi, general secretary (organisation) Manas Mohanty flew to national capital in the evening. “We will discuss the seat allotment to aspiring candidates during the meeting with leaders in charge of the election in Delhi. The discussion will cover all 147 Assembly seats and 21 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state,” Samal said.

On being asked about the talks on alliance with the regional party, Samal said, “So far as I know, there has been no talks with any leaders on pre-poll alliance with any party in Odisha.”

However, Samal refused to comment on Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik’s viral video, terming ‘gossip’ and ‘lies’ as the worst aspects of politics and whether it was targeted at the alliance talks. On Saturday, 5T chairman and BJD leader VK Pandian had shared an Instagram story on his conversation with Naveen in this regard.
