Bhubaneswar: The BJP government in Odisha is taking necessary steps for quick refund of money to the duped investors in various chit fund scams in the state.
This was stated by BJP’s state unit president Manmohan Samal on Wednesday. The party government is actively considering the process of returning money to the people who fell victim to chit fund scams in the state, he told reporters.
Stating that a policy decision on the issue is likely to be taken soon, Samal said it will speed up the initiation of this process. The state government is also evaluating to make the chit fund Commission’s report public and ensure transparency.
He said efforts are on to ensure that things reach their logical end in a proper legal manner at the earliest.
Attacking the previous BJD government on the issue, the state BJP chief said the previous regime failed to do its duty in ensuring refund of money to the duped investors.
Such statements are likely to provide some solace as it addresses the long-standing grievances of many investors who have awaited the return of their funds.
Mocking at Samal’s statement, senior BJD leader Prasanna Acharya said no concrete action has so far been taken by the present government though it claims to be contemplating a lot of things.
Acharya, who is also the deputy leader of opposition in the state Assembly said the BJP government has been making many claims but is yet to take any concrete step.
