Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to get its new president on July as the election schedule for the top post was announced on Friday.
A formal notification for holding election for the post of president will be issued on July 6, BJP’s state election officer Pratap Chandra Sarang said.
Aspiring candidates will be able to file nomination papers for the post of state president and Central Council Member on July 7.
If required, election will be held on July 8. The names of the new state party chief and central council member will be declared on the same day, said Sarangi, MP from Balasore.
After a brief halt following the tragic stampede during the Rath Yatra festival in Puri, the party has now rescheduled the key dates. Several prominent leaders are stated to have started mobilising their base, though the final list of nominees will become clear only after the nominations are filed.
