Odisha Boils With 10 Places Recording 43 Degree Celsius Or More; Baripada & Jharsuguda Hottest

Bhubaneswar: The entire Odisha except coastal areas continued to boil as temperature crossed 40 degree Celsius in most places on Tuesday.

According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, as many as 10 places experienced extreme heat with the mercury soaring past 43 degree Celsius.

Baripada in Mayurbhanj district and Jharsuguda were the hottest places in the state with the maximum temperature recorded at 44.2 degree Celsius.

The next hottest places were Balangir and Boudh with 43.7 degree Celsius. Nuapada recorded 43.6 degree Celsius, followed by Titlagarh and Sonepur with 43.2, Angul 43.1 and Sambalpur and Sundargarh with 43 degree Celsius.

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack reeled under 42.7 and 42.5 degree Celsius respectively.

The IMD has issued yellow warning of heatwave for next two days in several places of the state.

However, the Met office has forecast that light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam and dry weather to prevail in the rest districts till 8.30 am tomorrow.
