Odisha: Breakthrough In Sundargarh Double Murder, Jilted Lover Raju In Police Net
Sundargarh: Police on Sunday claimed to have made a major breakthrough in the Sundargarh double murder case by nabbing driver Raju Nag, who was absconding since the day of crime. According to police, Nag had allegedly stabbed Lipsa Kerketa—an MBA student—and her friend Pratap Lakra last week.
The accused was arrested by a special team that was probing the incident, said Rajgangpur SDPO, Abhisekh Panigrahi. He said further investigation in the case was still underway.
Police said the accused, a jilted lover, had confessed to the crime. Nag had allegedly killed Lipsa and Pratap after locking her parents inside a room on July 14.
Police had conducted raids at several places, including in some neighbouring states, to trace the accused.
Around four years back, Raju had reportedly developed a relationship with Lipsa, who apparently started ignoring him after getting admitted to an MBA college in Rourkela.
“The accused admitted that he killed Lipsa and Pratap as he suspected that the duo was in a relationship,” said the SDPO. Police have seized a knife and blood-stained clothes.
Accused Raju had also attacked Lipsa’s parents—John and Mary Sushma Kerketa—before escaping from the spot.
After being stabbed, the two were rushed to Kutra Community Health Centre (CHC). Lipsa was declared dead on arrival, while Pratap succumbed to his injuries on his way to a Rourkela health facility.
