Sambalpur: Some areas of Burla town in Odisha’s Sambalpur have been shut down after detection of several COVID-19 cases.
The action by Sambalpur district administration comes barely hours after the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), in the town was shut. As many as 29 students of the varsity had tested positive for COVID-19.
While Block D-5/6, Jagruti Vihar, MCL under Town Unit 3 Ward of SMC have been declared as containment zones; Block D-7 & 8, C Type Block, Jagruti Bihar, MCL have been declared Buffer zones.
As per a release by the district administration, only essential activities shall be allowed in the Micro Containment Zone. Strict check on movement of people in and out of the zones and contact tracing besides house-to-house surveillance will be implemented.
Barring extremely urgent medical cases, that too with permission, will be allowed while there be restriction on vehicular movement as public transport.
IIC, Burla PS will issue pass to the person wishing to move out of containment area after informing the Control Room which has been opened at the blocking point of the containment zone.

All inhabitants within the Containment Zone and Buffer Zone shall strictly remain in home, the order stated. Shopping establishments shall also remain closed while supply of essentials and medical requirements will be ensured through various teams formed under the leadership of Commissioner, SMC, Sambalpur.
In Buffer Zone: All persons must wear masks and maintain social distancing, avoid non-essential activities.
