Odisha Cameraman Murder: Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra Responds To Allegation Against Him
Bhubaneswar: Soon after the wife of cameraman Manas Swain alleged involvement of two ministers in the murder of her husband, Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra said BJD will abide by the decision of the court in the case.
In his response to the allegation of Yamuna Swain, the wife of cameraman of a web channel, that ministers Mishra and Pratap Jena were involved in the murder of Manas, Mishra told the media that the BJD is a disciplined party and its members function within the sanction of law.
“You all know the truth behind the incident. BJD is a disciplined party. We respect and follow the law of the land. The party leadership has never tolerated any kind of indiscipline, particularly violation of law,” he said.
Stating that the police were investing the case and the court will take its decision on the matter, Mishra said the party will abide by its verdict.
Earlier in the day, Yamuna said her husband was in possession of a memory chip that allegedly has video-recordings of “illegal acts” of ministers Jena and Mishra, and Sharmistha Rout, the owner of the web channel where Manas worked. Sharmistha, the prime accused in the murder case, is absconding.
“Sharmistha was desperate to get hold of the memory chip. They murdered Manas out of fear of getting exposed,” she added.
It may be noted that 28-year-old Manas went missing from a wedding venue in Bhadrak on February 7 and his body was exhumed at Ranpur in Nayagarh district on March 12.
