Bhubaneswar: Amid surge in power demand, the Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) has cancelled leaves of all its employees and asked them not to leave headquarters without prior approval.
A circular issued by the corporation said that due to the prevailing unforeseen situation arising due to excessive power demand and the need to maintain uninterrupted operational readiness, strict measures have been put in place.
No employee shall leave their headquarters without prior approval from the competent authority until further orders. All kinds of sanctioned leave, except maternity leave and leave granted on medical grounds, have been cancelled with immediate effect. Employees currently on leave have been advised to report back to duty at the earliest.
This apart, all scheduled meetings, conferences, seminars, training programmes, official tours, inspections and other engagements requiring employees to leave headquarters have been postponed or cancelled until further notice. Separate approval may be obtained for any training or travel during this period.
This emergency measure comes as Odisha continues to face high power demand amid intense heat and increased agricultural and domestic consumption.
OPTCL is the state transmission utility responsible for maintaining the high-voltage power grid and ensuring reliable power supply across the state.
