Odisha CEO Orders Probe Into BJD MLA’s Attack On Voters In Angul

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal has asked Angul district Collector to investigation into alleged attack by Chhendipada MLA Sushant Behera on a BJP worker.

The CEO issued the order following a complaint filed by Jayant Kumar Jena of BJP legal cell. The CEO, in a letter to Angul district election officer and collector, said Jena had filed the complaint against the MLA for attacking voters.

The BJD legislator, who has been renominated by the party from the Assembly constituency, had allegedly attacked a BJP worker at booth number 84 in Simili Sahi under Kosala panchayat of Angul district under Sambalpur parliamentary constituency during the third round of elections on May 25.

BJP’s legal cell member Jena filed the complaint with the CEO along with video footage on the incident. The CEO, in his order to the collector, said the evidence was self-explanatory.

Dhal also directed the Angul collector to investigate into the matter and take necessary action. The collector has been asked to submit the action taken report to the CEO within 24 hours.
