Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi Launches CM Kisan Yojana, Says 46 Lakh Farmers To Benefit
Sambalpur: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the CM Kisan Yojana at a function organised on the occasion of Nuakhai festival in Sambalpur on Sunday.
Speaking at the function held at GM University auditorium in the city, the Chief Minister said the state government’s scheme aimed at extending financial assistance to the farmers who have not been covered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana.
Stating that the state scheme will also cover landless farmers, Majhi said around 46 lakh farmers will benefit from the Yojana. This initiative, which replaces KALIA scheme of the previous BJD government, aims to empower small and marginal farmers, as well as landless agricultural households, across the state.
Majhi had earlier described CM-Kisan as a top-up in addition to Rs 6,000 provided under PM-Kisan in a year in three instalments of Rs 2000 each. Under the scheme, Rs 925 crore will be transferred to the farmers’ accounts through DBT.
As per the scheme, registered farmers will be paid financial assistance of Rs 4,000 annually in two phases. In the first phase, i.e., on Nuakhai, they will get Rs 2000, and the remaining amount on Akshaya Tritiya. Additionally, landless agricultural families, who were not covered under PM Kisan Yojana, will be eligible for Rs 12,500, provided in three instalments.
The chief minister also launched Krushi Bidyanidhi Yojana for the children of CM Kisan Yojana beneficiaries. Under this scheme, scholarships will be paid to the beneficiaries for higher technical education.
Majhi inaugurated the Krushak Odisha Unified Portal of the Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department on the occasion.
