Bhubaneswar: Actor Sonu Sood is seeking help from people to donate generously whatever is within their means, to treat Rajveer, a child from Ambapada village in Kandhamal who is suffering from a rare genetic disorder.
The parents of one-and-a-half-year-old Rajveer reached out to Sood in Mumbai. He, in turn, sent out a request to donate whatever they can for Rajveer’s treatment.
In a video message, Sood said, “We have seen in the past what public cooperation can do. People have been cured of this disease before. So, I request all to come forward and donate as per your capacity so that the child gets a new life.”
Rajveer suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a rare genetic disorder where a person can’t control the movement of muscles due to the loss of nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain stem.
His health is deteriorating rapidly. He urgently needs a Zolgensma injection, which costs Rs 16 crore and has to be imported from the US life. Doctors treating him in Bangalore, have given a deadline of four months for the administration of the life-saving injection.
The couple has also sought help from CM Naveen Patnaik for the treatment. Rajveer’s mother Tamalika had even staged a dharna outside Naveen Niwas on December 2.
