Odisha: CHSE Clears Air On ‘Out Of Syllabus’ Questions In Plus II Physics Exam; Results Likely By May 15
Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) on Tuesday clarified that questions in Physics paper in the ongoing Plus II examination were not out of syllabus.
“The question paper was prepared covering syllabus of both regular and ex-regular students. The regular students had to attend all seven question in Section 2 of the paper and one among them was from the syllabus of ex-regular students. They will be awarded grace marks for that question as per the practice,” CHSE Examination Controller Ashok Kumar Nayak told a presser.
He, however, admitted to choice deficit in the question paper. “In Section 3 of the paper, 3 questions of 2 marks were without any choice, and there was choice deficit in another question carrying 3 marks. Similar problem was seen in two more questions carrying five and four marks, respectively. In total, there was choice deficit for 19 marks,” he said.
The Examination Controller said that an expert committee will review the lapses in preparing the question paper and suggest steps, keeping the interest of students in mind. “Almost 90% of students have performed well in the examination. Those who have attempted these questions will be compensated accordingly,” he said.
There was no problem with the questions for ex-regular students, he added.
Nayak further informed that the results of all streams (Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational courses) will be declared on a single day.
The examinations are scheduled to conclude on March 20 and the evaluation will be held from March 22. “The results will be out by May 15. The evaluation will be made in two phases — from March 22 to April 2 and from April 4 to April 15. A total 15,000 examiners will be deployed for evaluation of answer sheets,” he said.
