Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha has issued the modalities for the special higher secondary (HS) examination which is slated to begin on October 1.

The students have to attend all the streams in English and MIL papers barring Alternative English (AE). The marks obtained in English will be awarded in AE paper if the candidate has it in his subject combination.

Also, there will be no examination in language optional paper in Arts stream. Marks obtained by a candidate in MIL will be awarded in language optional paper.

Among the four elective papers in three streams — Arts, Science and Commerce — examinees will have to appear for at least two elective papers (theory component) of their choice.

According to CHSE notification, the marks will be given in the rest of the elective papers on the basis of the average score of the elective papers that the candidate has attempted.

However, if the examinee sits for all the elective papers of the three streams, the actual scores secured by the candidate in the papers appeared will be taken for the finalisation of marks.

For practicals, the students having already cleared the practical component in the alternative assessment are need not submit their practical papers or practical project reports for evaluation in the special HS examination once again, according to the notification.

The council’s examination committee has provisionally shortlisted around 185 examination centres across the state for the tests. More than 13,000 students who were not satisfied with the evaluation via alternative assessment, had applied for the special HS test.
