Bhubaneswar: Congress legislature party (CLP) leader Ramachandra Kadam has sought the intervention of Speaker Surama Padhy to ensure the recovery of some valuables allegedly stolen from the Assembly premises.
In a letter addressed to the Speaker, Kadam said the theft incident occurred on March 26 at around 2.30 am and the stolen items includes a gold chain, watch, goggles, pants and shirts.
Highlighting serious security lapses, he called for the recovery of stolen belongings. In the incident, anti-social elements allegedly entered the premises and stole personal items belonging to CLP members.
Though nearly six months have elapsed since the theft, Kadam noted that none of the stolen items have been recovered or returned to the affected members by the Speaker’s office. “I want to know that till date none of our belongings handed over to us by your office,” the letter states.
Expressing concern over the lack of progress, Kadam has requested the Speaker to take necessary steps to recover the stolen items at the earliest and ensure they are returned to the members.
