[Watch] Odisha CM Celebrates India’s ‘Historic’ Win In Olympics Men’s Hockey
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated team India for its stunning victory in men’s hockey quarterfinals match at Olympics on Sunday and wished them great success for the semifinal clash.
India beat Great Britain 3-1 to seal a semi-final berth where the team plays Belgium on Tuesday.
Watching the men’s hockey match at his residence in Bhubaneswar, Naveen clapped for the team and gave a standing ovation after the historic win.
In a video message shared on his Twitter handle, Naveen said:
“Well played! Congratulate Indian Men’s #Hockey Team on registering a stunning victory in the quarter-final against Great Britain at #Tokyo2020. May the team continue its momentum & bring much awaited medal for the country. Wish the team all the best,” the CM said sharing a video.

Odisha is the official sponsor of Indian Hockey team both men and women. Sharing his happiness on women’s hockey team also reaching the quarterfinals for the first time in 71 years, Naveen wrote: “It is a matter of pride for the entire country that the Indian men’s hockey team reached the semifinals of the Olympics and the women’s team reached the quarterfinals for the first time in 71 years. We, the people of Odisha, are proud that Odisha has been supporting both national teams since 2014. Heartfelt greetings to all.”
