Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday hiked the salaries of junior teachers at primary schools by up to 50 per cent.
The decision will benefit 33,038 teachers.
The hike will come into effect from January 1, 2022. It will benefit 13,324 contractual junior teachers and 19,714 junior teachers.
As per the decision, contractual junior teachers drawing Rs 7,400 per month will now draw a salary of Rs 11,000.
Junior teachers drawing Rs 9,200 per month will now get a salary of Rs 13,800.
The move will cost the state exchequer Rs 168 crore annually.
