Bhubaneswar: Almost after four months, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi conducted the 15th ‘Jan Abhijog Sunani’ at the government primary school in Unit-2, Bhubaneswar, on Monday.

This was the first public hearing after the BJP’s victory in the Nuapada bypoll.

During the public grievance hearing session, the CM along with Deputy Chief Minister K V Singh Deo, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and Health Minister Mukesh Mahalang heard the grievances of around 1,000 people.

Majhi also instructed the officers to ensure the quickest possible resolution of every complaint that is received at the session.

One woman, identified as Vidyutprabha Sadangi from Jayadev Vihar area, met the CM to express gratitude for ration card and financial assistance under Subhadra Yojana.

Officials said that the CM is keen to reinforce his commitment to a governance model where citizens have direct access to the top leadership.

Reiterating the same, Majhi said his government gives utmost importance to common people’s problems by regularly holding ‘Jan Abhijog Sunani’. “Our government is fully dedicated to the welfare of all sections of people. ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ is the mantra of our governance. The welfare of every citizen is our goal. In a democratic system, it is our sacred duty to understand and listen to everyone’s joys and sorrows. We have been fulfilling that duty and will continue to do so,” he said.

Soon after assuming office, Majhi revived and institutionalised the chief minister’s public grievance hearing as a regular exercise to bridge the gap between people and the administration.

Later in a post in X, the CM said: “Your trust and faith are empowering us to work. I have always said that I am one among you. Therefore, our government is considering the inconveniences of the common people with utmost importance. Breaking the artificial barrier that previously existed between the government and the people, I have expedited conducting Jan Abhijogana Sunaani to listen to your problems myself.”

“This is your government. We are committed to serving the people of Odisha, and we are always striving to build a prosperous and developed Odisha. A government of the people, dedicated to the service of the people,” Majhi said, adding that the state government have been resolving problems through public listening, transparent administration, and swift implementation.

According to sources at the General Administration department, 12,040 of 12,950 grievances received in the previous 14 rounds of Monday hearings have already been resolved, while 910 are under process.
