Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ on Thursday, marking the 76th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The public service initiative commenced with the planting of an Ashok sapling at Loka Seva Bhawan, followed by a mega blood donation camp at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Unit-3 in Bhubaneswar.
Addressing a large gathering of volunteers, youth leaders, and dignitaries, the Chief Minister Majhi hailed Prime Minister Modi as the ‘Architect of Viksit Bharat’ and called upon the state’s youth to dedicate their energy toward nation-building and social service.
Donating blood to save a life reflects our highest human values. Despite scientific advancements, there is no synthetic alternative to human blood, Majhi said.
To ensure blood security across the state, the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s dedicated budget allocation of Rs 50.54 crore for the Atal Rakhtadan Abhiyan in the 2026–27 fiscal year.
The scheme aims to modernise existing blood banks while setting up state-of-the-art storage units in newly established medical colleges across Odisha.
Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra and Rajya Sabha MP and BJP’s Odisha unit president Manmohan Samal also addressed the gathering, emphasising that the initiative pays homage to PM Modi’s 25 years of continuous public service.
Senior leaders, including Minister Suresh Pujari, MP Aparajita Sarangi, and several local MLAs, were present at the event alongside hundreds of enthusiastic voluntary donors.
