Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday inaugurated ‘Ama Shasana’, a citizen feedback initiative aimed at improving governance through direct engagement with the public.

A dedicated portal — www.amashasana.odisha.gov.in — has been launched to capture feedback from citizens on the implementation of different schemes and ensure transparency and citizen-centric delivery of government services. A toll-free helpline number (14471) and a WhatsApp number (7400221903) have also been provided for quick communication and grievance redressal.

“The beneficiaries can share feedback and their experience regarding any government service or scheme through a call or via WhatsApp, social media, website and mobile app. This initiative will also allow them to interact with officials and ministers concerned and the CM, who can call them up at random and take their feedback in order to further strengthen different people-centric and welfare schemes,” a CMO release said.

Ministers and officials will also collect feedback from people through the mobile app while touring a particular region. This would also help the administration to make service delivery more effective and democratic. it added.

Immediately after launching the initiative at Lok Seva Bhawan, the CM called up some people, including a girl student of a school, and enquired about their opinion of different schemes and behaviour of the officials.

“If there is any complaint, feel free to call me or the helpline number 1447. Me and my ministers will certainly try to resolve any problem the students are facing,” Majhi told the girl over the phone.

The girl informed the chief minister that she had received financial assistance of Rs 5,000 under Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Scheme, which was introduced in the 2024-25 academic year with an aim to reduce dropout rate among ST students.

The girl further stated that she purchased books, pens and other requirements, including a dress and a pair of shoes. Majhi also enquired if anyone from the school demanded any money from her for getting the financial assistance.

The CM also spoke to a male beneficiary of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

“From the first day of forming the government we have been serving people with commitment. While governance and administration were previously out of reach for the people, now the government itself is reaching the people. The people’s government, by following the people’s opinions, is ensuring the service, facilities, and rights of every citizen. To connect with people further, the state government has launched ‘Ama Shasan’. ‘Ama Shasan’ is not just a scheme; it is the government’s firm resolve to bring governance to every village,” Majhi later posted on X.

The Ama Shasana system is expected to operate on the lines of the ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative of the previous BJD government, but with a renewed emphasis on enhancing democracy and promoting participatory governance.
