Bhubaneswar: In a ceremony held at his official residence here, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled Pragati Prabaha, the official mouthpiece publication of the Odisha government, issued by the Department of Information and Public Relations.
The chief minister described the publication as a vivid reflection of the state’s ongoing developmental progress, showcasing the government’s key initiatives, policies, and accomplishments. He extended his congratulations to the department for successfully launching the periodical, emphasising its role in documenting the state’s transformative journey.
A standout moment of the event was the felicitation of Hrudananda Bishi, a young and accomplished farmer from Lakhanpur village in Jharsuguda district. Bishi’s motivational story forms a prominent feature in the inaugural edition of Pragati Prabaha. Despite holding advanced qualifications—including a BSc in Physics, an MBA, and a degree in mechanical engineering, he opted for a career in agriculture and transformed into a “Lakhpati Kisan” (a farmer earning over Rs 10 lakh annually) by adopting modern farming practices such as drip irrigation and mulching
Congratulated Bishi for embodying self-reliance and innovation in the sector, Majhi urged him to expand his operations by availing benefits from schemes like the Chief Minister’s Agricultural Enterprise Scheme, PM-Kisan, and CM-Kisan.
He further noted that farmers in Odisha are actively realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of an “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India). “Today, a farmer not only supports his own family but also contributes to the livelihoods of many others. This is the true startup spirit of our nation,” he remarked.
The chief minister also instructed the Jharsuguda district collector to expedite all eligible assistance to Bishi on learning about the gaps in government programmes and subsidies. He further directed officials to prioritise the establishment of cold-chain infrastructure in the district to bolster agricultural preservation and market access.
He assured full support for farmers’ welfare and urged them to make the most of available schemes to increase productivity, enhance their income, and achieve greater prosperity.
Chief Minister’s advisor Prakash Mishra, former MLA Nauri Nayak, Director of Information and Public Relations Anuj Kumar Das Pattnaik, and Jharsuguda District Information and Public Relations Officer Krushnakeshi Baliarsingh were present.
