Berhampur: Ganjam district will soon witness Industrial development with Investments worth over Rs 1 lakh crore, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi said during his visit to the temporary abode of Maa Budhi Thakurani at Desi Behera Sahi here on Sunday.
These will help create over a lakh jobs, he added.
The CM took part in the ongoing biennial Budhi Thakurani Yatra and was greeted with rhythmic beats of traditional music, ululation, and thunderous chants of ‘Jai Maa Budhi Thakurani’ as he arrived at Desibehera Street here at around 11 am. Patala Durga Prasad Desibehera, chief of the Dera community in Berhampur who is considered as the revered ‘father’ of Maa Budhi Thakurani, presented him a Patta Odhani, a sacred cloth previously offered to the goddess.
Majhi also witnessed Bagha Nacha, the vibrant and acrobatic folk dance tradition, performed by seven artistes.
He was accompanied by Berhampur MP Pradeep Panigrahi, Berhampur MLA K Anil Kumar, other MLAs of Ganjam district, and Brahmagiri MLA Upasana Mahapatra.
The Berhampur MLA also gifted the CM a Berhampur Patta saree.
The 25-day-long festival, which started on April 3, will end on April 28 with the return of Maa Budhi Thakurani, the presiding deity of the Silk City, to the temple.
