Berhampur: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday launched 12 transformative industrial and infrastructure projects with a total investment of Rs 28,084 crore in Odisha’s Chhatrapur.
These initiatives are set to generate 15,455 jobs, marking a significant step toward economic growth and decentralised development in southern Odisha.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Majhi asserted that these investments will transform Ganjam into an industrial hub, creating over 15,000 jobs and fostering sustainable development. “Aligned with PM Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat vision, Odisha’s double-engine government is driving inclusive growth through industry, healthcare, and skill development. A new Mother & Child Health Unit will enhance healthcare access for women and children,” he said.
The CM highlighted recent achievements, including Rs 1.5 lakh crore in projects implemented within five months, generating 90,000 jobs, and the emergence of Gopalpur Port as a key economic gateway. “With initiatives like the World Skill Center and Lakhpati Didi, we are progressing confidently toward a Samruddha Odisha by 2036 and a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” he further stated.
The projects, spread across TATA Steel SEZ, Gopalpur, Chatrapur, Buguda, and Barapalli, span green energy, advanced manufacturing, logistics, agro-processing, and eco-tourism. Key initiatives include:
>> Green Hydrogen & Ammonia: Ocior Energy Pvt. Ltd. (Rs 7,200 crore, 2,300 jobs) and HHP Five Pvt. Ltd. (Rs 4,000 crore, 1,595 jobs).
>> Energy Infrastructure: Petronet LNG Ltd’s Rs 6,500 crore LNG terminal in Gopalpur (1,000 jobs).
>> Speciality Chemicals: UPL Ltd’s Rs 4,000 crore facility (4,100 jobs).
>> Green Energy Equipment: Saatvik Solar Industries Pvt. Ltd. (Rs 3,500 crore, 3,225 jobs) and World Green >> Energy Pvt. Ltd. (Rs 2,500 crore, 2,500 jobs).
>> Logistics: Geo Impex’s Rs 207 crore Multi-Modal Logistics Park (350 jobs).
>> Agro-Processing: Tarangini Distilleries’ Rs 149 crore bio-ethanol project (205 jobs).
>> Eco-Tourism: Crochet Industries’ Rs 18 crore eco-resort (80 jobs).
>> Infrastructure: TATA Steel Industrial Park (Rs 200 crore) and IDCO’s utility corridor (Rs 229 crore).
Minister for Industries Sampad Chandra Swain, noted, “These projects showcase Odisha’s commitment to balanced growth and investor confidence, positioning Ganjam as a key driver of the state’s industrial progress.”
Ministers Gokulananda Mallik, Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Berhampur MP Pradeep Panigrahi, and MLA Krushna Chandra Nayak were also present.
Post-ceremony, CM Majhi reviewed project progress in a high-level meeting and visited key sites, including TATA Steel SEZ and the Deepak Fertiliser project.
