Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will be attending a pre-budget discussion with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Jaisalmer on Friday.
Sitharaman is set to engage with state finance ministers ahead of the presentation of the 2025-26 Union Budget.
Majhi, who also holds the finance portfolio, is expected to put forth the state’s demands to fulfil BJP’s election manifesto promises, including a second AIIMS in Sambalpur and a second Central University in Odisha. He may reiterate the demand for enhanced assistance for development of cyclone-resilient infrastructure in the state, vulnerable to natural disasters, more green energy projects and housing under PMAY for rural and urban areas, greater tele-density and a wider rail and road network and a larger share in mining revenue, sources said.
He may also seek central support to carry forward the flagship fund transfer Subhadra Yojana.
The CM is also scheduled to attend the the 55th GST council meeting during his stay in the desert state on Saturday (December 21).
Majhi will then fly to Delhi the same evening and stay in the national capital until Monday during which he will meet several Union ministers to address the state’s issues with various departments. He is also likely to invite some ministers, BJP leaders and other dignitaries to attend Pravasi Bharatiya Divas programme hosted by Odisha in January.
