Odisha CM Mohan Majhi To Undertake Two-Day Visit To Poll-Bound Jharkhand

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is likely to undertake a two-day visit to Jharkhand ahead of the Assembly elections in the neighbouring state.

According to sources, Majhi is slated to visit several areas of Jharkhand on September 30 and October 1 for two days to attend the ‘Parivartan Yatra’ of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Considered an influential tribal leader of Odisha, the Chief Minister is scheduled to visit Jagannathpur in West Singhbhum district on the first day of his visit on September 30.

Similarly, Majhi is slated to visit Kolhan in Chaibasa the next day. His visit is significant as over one lakh Odia-speaking people are stated to be residing in these areas. Odia voters are expected to play a major role in the upcoming elections in these areas of Jharkhand.

Apart from addressing gatherings, the Chief Minister is likely to interact with Odia-speaking people and enquire about issues relating to education and healthcare in these areas.

Notably, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Odisha Governor Raghubar Das, a former Jharkhand Chief Minister, and Majhi in Bhubaneswar on Friday. Sarma happens to be BJP’s co-election in-charge for Jharkhand.

Elections to the 81-member assembly in Jharkhand are due later this year.
