Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik’s Cousin Brother Applies For Old-Age Pension!
Cuttack: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s cousin brother Dilip Patnaik is reported to have applied for old-age pension provided by both the Odisha government and the Centre.
According to reports, 76-year-old Dilip has filled up forms for Madhubabu Pension Yojana (MBPY) of Odisha and Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) of the Centre to apply for the pension.
Dilip, who is unmarried, has reportedly shown in the form that he has no source of income and the total annual income of his family is less than Rs 12,000. However, he does not possess a BPL card.
Under the MBPY, the state government pays Rs 500 (60-79 years) and Rs 700 (80 years and above) to each beneficiary per month.
Similarly, under the IGNOAPS, the Centre pays a monthly pension of Rs 200 for people aged up to 79 years and Rs 500 thereafter to each enrolled beneficiary.
It may be noted that Dilip is the son of George Patnaik, elder brother of visionary leader and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik. Born in Cuttack, Dilip had reportedly worked for a sponge iron plant after completing his studies at Ravenshaw and Utkal University. After retirement, he has been staying with his sister Rekha Patnaik in a portion of Anand Bhawan in Cuttack.
Following an accident, his movement had become restricted. Dilip reportedly lamented that despite being the cousin of the Chief Minister, he has not received any support from Naveen.
It may be recalled that Barabati-Cuttack MLA Mohammed Moquim had met Dilip at his residence near Biju Patnaik Chhak in Tulasipur area of the millennium city last month after learning about his illness.
