Bhubaneswar: In a swift action driven by compassion and humanism, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday stepped in after learning from media reports about the plight of Prafulla Kumar Das, a 100% visually impaired man from Andhari village in Korei block of Jajpur district.
The Chief Minister directed district authorities to extend immediate support to Das under various welfare schemes of the state government.
It was stated that Das will be allotted a house under the Antyodaya Griha Yojana, offering him a secure roof over his head.
Additionally, he will receive an immediate financial grant of Rs 5,000 from the Red Cross Fund to meet essential needs. Officials confirmed that Das is already a beneficiary of a monthly disability pension of Rs 3,500, and he receives five kilograms of rice each month under the National Food Security Scheme. He has also been equipped with a white cane to assist his movement.
The prompt step taken by the CM shows his government’s commitment to standing by vulnerable citizens and ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey of development.
