Bhubaneswar: An intense cold wave continued to disrupt life in Odisha for the third day with the night temperature falling below 10°C at 12 places on Tuesday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that the temperature recorded till 5.30 am on Tuesday was lowest in Phulbani at 4°C followed by Daringbadi (5.5), Angul (6), Koraput (6.6), Bhawanipatna (7.2), Sundargarh (7.5), Jharsuguda (7.5), Baripada (8.5), Balangir (8.8), Titlagarh (9), Sonepur (9.2) and Boudh (9.5).
Besides, mercury remained below 15°C in 11 places including Balasore (11.8), Chandbali (11.7), Paradip (13.4), Gopalpur (13.3), Puri (14.8), Sambalpur (10.2), Hirakud (11.1), Talcher (10.1), Malkangiri (10.5), Nayagarh (11.7) and Rayagada (13.5).
The mercury also fell further by 1°C in Cuttack (10.5) and Bhubaneswar (11.7).
The IMD predicted the cold wave condition in Odisha will intensify further with the night temperature falling by by 1-2°C in the coastal districts and by 3-4°C in the interior districts during the next three days till December 25.
The IMD has issued orange and yellow warnings pertaining to the cold wave for the following districts.
December 22
