Bhubaneswar: The Congress filed a privilege motion against the Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Rajendra Pratap Swain and Opposition leader Pradipta Mahapatra in the Assembly on the issue of PDS kerosene quota to Odisha.
Raising the issue during question hour on Thursday, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Narasingha Mishra said the minister had claimed that the Centre has reduced the annual PDS kerosene quota to the state. However, the Opposition leader said the Centre has not reduced the quota.
“Going by the two conflicting claims by the minister and the Opposition leader, it is now clear that one of them has given wrong information,” Mishra said.
The shortage of PDS kerosene in the state was due to its black marketing by ruling party ministers and MLAs, the Congress leader alleged.
Speaker Surya Narayan Patro said the House will examine the privilege motion.
