Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Kandhamal district continued to remain the coldest for the fourth consecutive day with the mercury dropping further to 6°C at G Udayagiri, India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.
Similiguda in Koraput recorded 6.5°C followed by Kirei (Sundargarh) at 7.8°C and Phulbani (Koraput) at 8°C each.
With a coldwave sweeping the state, eight places recorded a night temperature of 10°C and below:
G Udayagiri (Kandhamal): 6°C
Similiguda (Koraput): 6.5°C
Kirei (Sundargarh): 7.8°C
Phulbani (Kandhamal): 8°C
Jharsuguda: 8.7°C
Sundargarh: 9°C
Koraput: 9.4°C
Daringbadi (Kandhamal): 10°C
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 14.6°C and 14.4°C respectively.

According to IMD, there will be no large change in the minimum temperature during the next 2 days. The mercury will rise by 2 to 3 degree Celsius thereafter at many places in the state.
While dense fog engulfed Cuttack, shallow to moderate fog was seen at Angul, Paralakhemundi, Sonepur and Bhawanipatna.
The Met Office has forecast shallow to moderate fog at one or two places in Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Sonepur till 8.30 am on Friday.
