Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested a contractor, Laxmidhara Routaray, for allegedly misappropriating Rs 57 lakh government funds.
According to a Vigilance release, the accused contractor siphoned off Rs.56,93,957 in connivance with Harishchandra Bentkar, soil conservation overseer posted in the office of Assistant Director Soil Conservation cum Project Implementing Agency, Watershed, In Nuapada’s Khariar, without executing 22 loose boulder check dams.
Routray is being forwarded to the court of Special Judge,Vigilance, Bhawanipatana, and efforts are on to arrest the main accused, Bentkar, and another contractor, Abhilash Meher,” it said, adding that further investigation is underway.
