Bhubaneswar: A police officer was thrashed by his family members after allegedly being caught red-handed in a compromising situation with a young girl in his barrack quarters on Kotagarh police station premises in Odisha’s Kandhamal district.
According to sources, Kuber Digal, posted as In-charge of Subarnagiri police outpost, is due to retire after two months. He was allegedly engaged in an illicit affair with a 19-year-old woman, much to anguish of his wife and son.
The incident unfolded late on Monday evening when the wife and the family members of the police officer unexpectedly arrived at his quarters. The woman reportedly jumped from the roof of the quarters and was severely injured. The duo was taken to nearby hospital for treatment by Kotagada Police and the woman was later handed over to her family.
While no complaint has been lodged at Kotagada police station, Kandhamal SP has reported to have ordered a probe into the incident.
Digal is yet to comment on the allegations.
