Bhubaneswar: As the number of Covid-19 cases in Odisha has gone up to seven with two more persons testing positive for the virus, the state government advised people not to panic as the current variant is quite mild.
Describing the situation in Odisha as under control, Health Secretary Aswathy S said there is nothing to worry and people should remain cautious and vigilant.
Citing the latest ICMR report, she said the current variant of Covid-19 in circulation does not exhibit severe symptoms, and most cases are mild in nature.
The Health Secretary also clarified that only seven active cases have been reported in the state, and all necessary precautions are being taken by the health authorities.
All the patients who have been identified are undergoing treatment and will soon recover.
The Health Secretary also advised everyone to take care of their health because of the changing weather conditions as monsoon has just arrived in Odisha.
The situation in Odisha seems to be relatively under control at present amid surge in Covid-19 cases in some other states. There are currently 2710 Covid-19 cases in the country and as many as seven deaths in all with one new death in Delhi.
The Public Health Director has informed that necessary steps are being taken, and the situation is being closely monitored to prevent any further spread.
Health officials are closely monitoring the evolving situation, particularly in view of the approaching monsoon season, which often contributes to the spread of viral infections. Hospitals and health centres are being advised to keep isolation wards and testing facilities ready in case of any sudden surge.
