Bhubaneswar: Odisha witnessed a further drop in daily COVID caseload on Monday with 652 people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. The state had recorded 730 cases the previous day.
According to the I&PR Department, 381 cases are from quarantine and 271 cases from local contacts. Among them, 132 are in the 0-18 years age group.

With these cases being detected from 17,966 samples, the test positivity rate stood at 3.6%. Odisha now has 5,798 active cases.
Notably, the state contributed to 5% of India’s weekly new cases and a high positivity of 4.85% in the week ending August 5. It was among the seven states reporting rising infections and was directed by the Centre to ensure adequate testing, and promote COVID-appropriate behaviour.
