Bhubaneswar: With the vehicular movement getting paralysed due to the drivers’ state-wide agitation amid reports of sporadic violence on second day on Thursday, the Odisha government has assured the agitating drivers of resolving their issues within 3 months.
The assurance was given by chief secretary Pradip Kumar Jena at a meeting with office-bearers and senior members of the Drivers’ Ekata Mahamanch in Bhubaneswar. The meeting, presided by Jena, was held at the Conference Hall in the Secretariat at 7 pm, according to a release from the office of the chief secretary.
Following the discussion with Mahamanch members on their demands, it was decided that that government would resolve the issues within 3 months, the release stated.
But the Mahamancha has not issued any statement on its response or next course of action.
At least 6 police personnel were injured as the agitating drivers reportedly pelted stones at them during the agitation in Berhampur on Thursday evening.
