Berhampur: The name of a deceased leader has found mention in the list of reconstituted legal front of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha.
While reconstituting the legal front of the party, BJD announced the names of office bearers of the new body, which included head of 33 organisational districts, on Saturday. The office order about the appointments was issued on February 25.
According to sources, the name of a deceased advocate figures in the list of presidents of 33 organisational districts of the party.
The name of Ramnath Mishra, who passed away on October 31, last year has been mentioned as the president of BJD legal front for Gajapati district.
Mishra, who was 76, had been president of the lawyers’ association in Paralakhemnudi for 25 years and was a popular leader in Gajapati district.
The announcement of the deceased advocate’s name as BJD legal front district pesident has surprised people in the area.
A similar incident had taken place in September last year when the name of a deceased woman leader had found mention in the list of executive body members of Biju Mahila Janata Dal (BMJD), the women wing of ruling BJD.
As per list of the newly constituted office-bearers, 68 women leaders had been appointed as executive body members. It included the name of Meenakshi Mishra as executive body member of Berhampur. But she died in 2020.
