Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday officially rescheduled public holiday on account of Eid-ul-Zuha from May 27 to 28.
The Revenue and Disaster Management Department issued a notification stating that the change has been made following the expected visibility of the moon.
All government offices and Magisterial Courts (Executive) across the state will now remain closed on May 28, while May 27 will be a regular working day.
This partial modification comes in supersession of the earlier notification issued in November 2025. The move aligns Odisha’s holiday calendar with the actual sighting of the crescent moon, a practice followed by many states to ensure the festival is observed on the correct Islamic date.
