Boudh: In an era when medical practitioners are criticized for negligence, an Odisha doctor turned into a Good Samaritan by saving a woman whose condition became critical after delivering a stillborn baby at Manmunda Community Health Centre (CHC) in Boudh district.
Not only this, Dr Manoj Kumar Nayak even donated blood to save the patient, identified as Brajeswari Jal of Bardol village.
According to reports, Brajeswari was brought to the CHC after complaining of labour pain on Sunday. Dr Nayak, who was on duty, performed certain tests on the woman and reported that the baby had died in the womb itself.
Soon, the patient’s body started bloating and in no time her condition became critical. After examining the patient, Dr Nayak advised her husband, Narendra Jal, to shift her to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) as the CHC didn’t have adequate facilities to treat her. But, Narendra couldn’t afford to shift his wife to DHH and requested Dr Nayak to treat her.
Without wasting any time, the doctor delivered the stillborn baby and saved Brajeswari’s life. He also donated blood in the DHH to arrange O+ blood for the patient.
Comparing Dr Manoj to an angel in disguise, Narendra said, “It is because of him that my wife has got a new lease of life.”
